As we slowly approach July, it is finally time to put on our summer dresses, summer shorts or summer shirts.
The urge to take in the summer heat and warm summer vibes will be magnificent, especially for those of us who are on holiday for more than one month after a challenging year of studies and school, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t suffer from boredom at some point.
There will certainly be times where you may end up stuck indoors with nothing to do, especially if some of your friends are too busy or members of your family are still hard at work.
It could be that you’re not sure about what summer goals to set yourself or what free time activities are out there ready to be explored.
Well fear not, as I have created a fantastic list of ways to not be bored over the summer.
A lot of the time when we think of an exciting summer activity to explore, we always look to beaches, holidays abroad or even sightseeing. Perhaps you may even want to go on a wellness retreat!
This is because when we think of the summer, we always imagine sunny Malaga beaches or Maldives holidays abroad.
For a lot of us, it can be difficult to experience these places when we are unable to go there, but this doesn’t mean that you are limited by what free time activities to indulge in.
That is because, instead of looking to different locations to enjoy the summer, we should consider thinking inside the box, or in this case inside the area we live in.
There are guaranteed to be a number of activities, hobbies and social events going on in your area that you’ve probably never heard of.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, there’s a lot going on when it comes to sports this summer and the line up is pretty jam-packed!
For starters, you have the Euros for those of you that love your football as well as the notorious 2024 Olympic games coming to Paris, France where almost any sport YOU can think of is likely to be involved.
So why not spend the summer perhaps watching these games with your friends and family, relaxing and being immersed in the intense competition!
One of the easiest and best ways to enjoy the summer is simply by trying out new sports or pursuing sports that you love.
There are a variety of sports out there to suit everyone’s needs and desires, whether it is something as popular as football or competitive as cricket.
And of course, while a lot of sports can be very overwhelming to try out, especially if you think your fitness is slacking or you just want to partake in casual fun, there are so many sports that can suit you.
When summer comes to mind, golf is a fantastic sport to play due to the gorgeous open fields and opportunity to embrace the sunny weather!
Even water sports can be up there as some of the most exciting things to try out.
Whether it is water polo, waterboarding, water-skiing, diving or even going for a swim, water-based activities ca be very versatile for summer enjoyment!
Are you feeling like you’re lazy this summer? It may be that you’re feeling slow and unfit or that you have a bad mood.
That is where the gym comes along. Most people today over-look the value of a gym, because all they see it as is a way to build muscle. That simply isn’t all the gym is about!
The gym is a perfect haven for fitness and strengthening your motivation. By working out, you release endorphins, which help to increase happiness levels encouraging you to strive towards your goals and shy away from laziness and a lack of drive.
Gyms are also very social environments. They offer many opportunities for people to interact and for people to encourage one another to achieve goals. Whether it’s helping one another with the bench press or squat racks, the gym can help you to overcome social anxiety.
In general gyms are just very fun places to be. Go with your friends or relatives and you can enjoy pushing one another to the limit or compete to see who is truly the fittest in the gym.
It’s absolutely worth the money!
New skills can come in so many forms!
There are endless skill that you can learn, some offering more benefits or challenges to different types of people.
Start with what your interests are. Do you like music and want to enhance your piano or violin skills? Are you a sporty person with a drive to become more skilful in your athleticism? Are you interested in money-making skills?
Ask yourselves these questions, then you will be able to learn new skills to complement your interests.
Summer beaches and glistening blue oceans are usually the first things that come to mind when it comes to spending time over the summer.
While these are indeed relaxing and amazing aspects of the summer that we should certainly try to enjoy, there, are definitely many other opportunities to look out for that we may not have even considered…
Are you looking to visit somewhere that you’ve never visited before which doesn’t require you to have to take a plane and pay for expensive tickets? Could it be somewhere that you can take a break from the urban air and enjoy beautiful landscapes? Perhaps you live in the rural countryside and want to embrace the urban air of the big city life!
Have you come back after studying away from home, perhaps from university of even abroad? Have you just not got in touch with your friends for a while simply due to how busy you have been?
If this is the case, getting in touch with your friends again is the perfect way to spend the summer!
Doing so will open open so many opportunities to get to catch up on what you’ve been up to and even enjoy the summer together doing exciting activities and travelling together.
Doing all of these water sports, hobbies, and going on holiday will always be a lot more exciting with friends, which is why keeping in touch with them can really lighten up the summer holiday more than you might expect!
If you’re in a position where you really want to enjoy the summer, but want to make some money to back up those summer vibes, part-time jobs and money-making skills are a great place to start.
In fact getting a job or learning a monetary skill are great ways to spend some of the days, instead of lounging about watching Netflix all day.
With part-time jobs, find something that you would be comfortable doing. It doesn’t have to be a regular old job working at the supermarket; it can be something as interesting as simple as delivering goods on your bike or packing merchandise. One job I’d highly recommend from experience is joining a hospitality agency.
These are great for students and youngsters especially as they offer incredible flexibility, allowing to book in shifts whenever you are available. The best thing is they offer so many different opportunities. This can include working at football stadiums, boxing events or even festivals which are a lot of fun.
If you’re feeling a little artsy this summer or feel as though, you lack creativity in the art and design department, learning some cool tips and tricks to draw, paint or making things through DIY, will certainly be worth your time.
Many people, like me enjoy sketching whenever there is free time. That’s because it can be really satisfying nailing a drawing or sketch of something to near accuracy.
Doing creative stuff also has a lot of value socially. It can be a way to express your talents, impressing the people around you as well as a perfect opportunity to bond and socialise.
Plus, anyone can partake in DIY and creative skills. That’s because it’s easy to search video tutorials on youtube on how to make things which can really be a lot of fun when doing it with friends and family.
So, don’t hesitate to enhance your creativity this summer!
For those of us with daring personality and a live-life-on-the-edge kind of persona, a summer holiday would not be complete, without something thrilling.
While obviously learning new skills, instruments, painting, visiting attractions and part-time jobs are great, activities that are heart-in-mouth are certainly something that you may be keen to look for.
That is why it is worth doing these activities as well during the summer to make the most out of your time!
Never tried go-karting before? Trust me, you need to try it out!
Go-karting is the perfect leisure activity to o with friends and family. Whether it’s for the sake of competitiveness or to experience the thrill and physicality of high-speed action, go-karting will be something highly memorable to do during the summer.
We cannot forget about gold as well. Many people may find it boring, especially playing on a field, but it’s actually a very accessible activity that can bring out the excitement of families and friends.
Simply going to a golf range where you can admire the gorgeous view on a hot, sunny day while hitting balls hundreds of yards is something to excite over.
If you are feeling even more adventurous, perhaps wanting to experience what it’s like to put your life on the line, skydiving is perfect for those who don’t know what fear is.
These are just a few of the endless activities to sink your teeth in!
Summer can put a toll on us, especially when the heat may be unbearable. That is why water sports are an absolute go-to both for leisurely enjoyment and cooling on in some cold, refreshing waters.
As mentioned before, water sports can come in so many forms, catering to any age or preference. These can include waterboarding, water skiing, diving, swimming and even something as simple as lounging in a pool.
Obstacle courses are also the perfect way to have a thrill in the waters!
Moreover, with family and friends, water sports could never get boring.
Your local lake, swimming centre or going to the beach will likely offer some water-based activities, so always keep a look out for any key activities and events taking place!
If there are any sites and attractions you are eager to visit, do not hesitate to make an effort to make it happen!
It could be a cool sight-seeing attraction, or a beautiful mountain that you want to climb. Aquariums, zoos, waterparks and rollercoasters also are perfect attractions to venture towards.
Maybe you are looking for a more relaxed day out and want to admire the breath-taking architecture of a cathedral or classic town, while also visiting a restaurant that’s been on your radar for the past year!
Whatever has caught your eye, do not shy away from ticking it off your bucket list this summer…
